"We all do things we regret. But no matter how many mistakes we make, the true test is to see if we learned anything and don't repeat the same mistakes."
Luisa Figlia --- Submitted by Samantha H., Age 15 --- New York
It really means a lot to me. When I read it I can't help but deeply think about it.
"Remember this: When people choose to withdraw far from a fire, the fire continues to give warmth, but they grow cold. When people choose to withdraw far from light, the light continues to be bright in itself, but they are in darkness. This is also the case when people withdraw from God."
Augustine --- Submitted by Deepti P., Age 17 --- India
"Learning Geometry, Chemistry, Physics, Algebra and everything else has been very, very, very, very hard. Teachers can make it easy."
Written in 2007 by Napoleon G., Age 13 --- Philippines
"Don't give up at half time, concentrate on winning the second half."

"Life is like a roller coaster. Without its downs, there wouldn't be any ups and nobody likes a roller coaster that only stays on one level."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by P.H., Age 16 --- Nevada
"Changing is hard, being yourself is harder."
Written in 2007 by Lloyd W., Age 16 --- South Australia, Australia
I thought up this quote to base a school art assignment on. This is a personal statement from me explaining how hard it is to "change" who you are to be what everyone else wants you to be. Also that it is even harder to stand up for what you believe in and who you really are. I'm a gay teen and I'm comfortable with who I am. It was so hard to try to cover up who I really was before I came out, but it was even harder to believe in myself and to show everyone that I was proud to be who I am and not let other people hurt me. I don't care what other people think of me, I love being myself and showing my true colours.
"Times of darkness hold the most beauty. Those who embrace this are wise beyond their years."
Written in 2007 by Meredith S., Age 14 --- Kentucky
My friends and I have been through rough times together. This is sort of our motto because we all have dark times, but in darkness there must also be light.
"You can't give up the now for the future, but you can't give up the future for the now."
Written in 2007 by Amber A., Age 17 --- Indiana
Life is a balance of working for the future. But in doing that, you can't give up all the good times that are already happening.
"Things happen in life that you can't stop, but that's no reason to shut out the world."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by M.L., Age 14 --- Kentucky
"When you're in a new place, don't try to impress people. Just be yourself and everything will be alright."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by J.C., Age 16 --- Michigan
"Education is the key to success that will open many doors in life."
Written in 2007 by Rasheeda R., Age 17 --- California
"All misfortune is but a stepping stone to fortune."
Henry David Thoreau --- Submitted by E.L., Age 16 --- NSW, Australia
I had a lot of bad experiences and went through really bad times. I have recently discovered that it wouldn't do me any good if I kept on dreading about the past. I can't change the past but I believe and I know that I can change the present and the future. I can pave my own way. I am determined not to let the past hinder my potential and ruin my life. I am still young and I have a life to live. I have annoying kids around me though I will never let them destroy me. I am going to prove them with my grades. For everyone out there, trust me, you decide your own way; not others.
"Sunshine without rain is the recipe for a desert."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by Aly B., Age 16 --- Iowa
I love this quote because you have to think into it. In this quote, sunshine stands for good things happening and the rain is the bad things.
"That voice inside you that tells you what to do is right. Go do it. Now."
Written in 2007 by Liz H., Age 18 --- Virginia
I decided to put this out there because it's my mantra. A lot of people, including my father, have been trying to block me from doing what I was meant to do. Since I never gave up, regardless of what he said to me, I know it's correct. I am going in the right direction, even if it is scary sometimes.
"The only things in life you regret are the risks that you didn't take."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by S.G., Age 14 --- Ontario, Canada

Written in 2007 by Rachel M., Age 14 --- California
"Saving the world isn't for the faint of heart or weak of will. It is for those with masked courage who dreamed of a better world yesterday, make plans to accomplish these changes today, and are going to make a difference in someone's life tomorrow."
Written in 2007 by Katerina B., Age 14 --- Florida
I wrote simply because I want to make a difference in the world which we live in, and when you're taking on something this big, you better have a plan!
"Don't chase after the things that are undeniably unreachable, chase after the ones right in front of you."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by J.C., Age 16 --- Michigan
Sometimes people try to go after the things that they know are way out of their reach. And when they fall and hurt themselves, they get mad. So get the things right in front of you first and then shoot for the stars.
"If people want to talk about you, when there is nothing to talk about, why don't you go out there and do something that's going to WOW them so they can actually talk about something?"
Written in 2007 by Samantha J., Age 15 --- South Carolina
There are so many people out there that want to talk when there's nothing really to talk about! It's dumb!! People use to talk about me when there was nothing, so I went out there and actually wowed them so they could talk!
"Never look at yourself and WONDER why you aren't like a supermodel or the popular girl in school. Look at yourself and KNOW you are far beyond those people."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by A.M., Age 16 --- Alabama
This quote lets us teens know that following the crowd won't always help. If anything, it would bring your self-esteem down and make you doubt yourself. It also lets us know being true to yourself is way more important than being true to the crowd.
"Courage is not facing what is known. It's the willingness to go into the unknown and do the best that you can."
Written in 2007 by Meredith S., Age 14 --- Kentucky
This quote is one of the main morals in one of my stories that I have written for my school. It's helped me through some rough times.
"Live life the way life is supposed to be lived."
Written in 2007 by A.S., Age 13 --- Michigan
I had made up this quote, and I think it is important to life.
"Life is just like a really long ride. So instead of wasting your time sitting on the inside of the car looking out, why not be outside of the car being something that other people are staring at?"
Written in 2007 by Kara S., Age 14 --- Maine
"Don't fall away with the rest of the world; rather keep in mind that you define cool. It's your life so play the game by a different set of rules."
Kgomotso Ngwenyama --- Submitted by Tushi N., Age 19 --- South Africa
"Go big or don't go. Tear it up!"
Written in 2007 by Kate F., Age 15 --- Wisconsin
My friend Michelle and I would say this to each other when we were going for our hardest tumbling passes on floor or right before our dismount on bars.

"Life is like a journey; live it how you would want it to be in a book."
Written in 2007 by Leah J., Age 14 --- Texas
I had just come from Orlando, in Florida, and in the car I was reminiscing about a scary ride that I was about to skip out on. Two of my oldest cousins and I were about to get on a Hulk ride and I was about to bail out. When I thought about it, my life is like a journey in a book, I wouldn't want readers to be like, 'She sucks, she bailed out on a ride that would of been over in less that 5 minutes'. I want them to be like, 'That took a lot of courage!'
