MOTIVATIONAL QUOTES FOR TEENS
SUBMITTED BY TEENS
"Three things can't be hidden long; the sun, the moon, and the truth."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by Haileigh F. --- Nova Scotia
I chose this because no matter what, when people lie others will find it out. Be honest. It takes a lot less effort.
"There's one thing stands between you and success and that's fear."
Written in 2007 by Brent R., Age 14 --- New Jersey
It just came to me during a baseball game.
"Tell that someone just what you're thinking of because tomorrow might not come."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by Jami S., Age 16 --- Texas
This reminds me to be nice to people, and take what you have into consideration. If you love someone secretly, you need to tell them so they will know, because we are never promised tomorrow.
"A lot of work can lead to something great, but something great can lead to heartache."
Written in 2007 by Tricia M., Age 17 --- New Mexico
This has different meanings to different people. To me it just tells me that I can work really hard to get something great but if I make it greater than it really is, then all I'm doing is hurting myself.
"You can't change the past, even if you try really hard, because the past has already forgotten about you. So you have to forget about it. And if you can't, that's because it's something that changed your life forever. You have to get over things because you cannot change them. Just let go!"
Written in 2007 by Juliia --- Age 16, Pennsylvania
"Anyone can give up, it's the easiest thing in the world to do, but to keep fighting when no one would blame you if you quit, that's true strength."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by A.R-M., Age 16 --- New York
This year I was diagnosed with epilepsy. I spent most of my school year either on home tutoring or fighting to get back in school to prove to everyone that I was ok. When I returned to school, I was having up to 5 seizures a day, in front of all my peers. It was really hard to deal with everyone staring at me, and constantly having to deal with being the "seizure girl" when someone taped this quote to my locker and it really touched me.
"True, we love life, not because we are used to living, but because we are used to loving. There is always some madness in love, but there is also always some reason in madness."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by Danica M., Age 15 --- California
A friend told me this quote once and I have loved it ever since.
"I'm not addicted to cigarettes or nicotine, so why should I participate in your drug addiction?"
Written in 2007 by Kitty D., Age 13 --- Texas
"Love life, not money!"
Author Unknown --- Submitted by Mike P., Age 17 --- Florida
I'm not sure who wrote this, maybe it was me, I don't know but it has a lot of meaning. One should not put money before the importance of life. Life may sometimes not go the way you want it to, but you just need to keep your head up. And money is just a distraction to the true meaning of life.
"Don't let today's regrets effect tomorrow's dreams."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by Cali S., Age 14 --- South Carolina
I was denied, by my soccer coach, from making the "A" team. It wasn't fair because I was a very good player. Then I noticed I couldn't let this lady's thoughts today break my future of playing soccer. I know now that I did the right thing. I wouldn't let her ruin all my hope. I tried out for another team and we beat her team. Shows her! This quote really inspired me.
"Believing is Succeeding. Believing will take you far but Succeeding will take you further."
Written in 2007 by Oriana H., Age 14 --- New Zealand
This quote helped me learn and succeed in school and all I did was believed in myself. I got so far that I'm in the top class in my form, passing all my tests and even got the opportunity of being head girl just because I believed in myself and I succeeded.
"You can pretend you like me and then talk about me behind my back. You think I can't see who I am and what you lack? I know I'm different, but that's what makes me unique. I'm my own person and I'll always be me. I won't let what you say change who I am."
Written in 2007 by Miranda T., Age 16 --- Arkansas
One reason I wrote this is because people think they can say cruel remarks and it will change you. Well, they haven't changed me. People don't like my style of clothes and it doesn't bother me. They can say what they want, because it won't change me. I wrote this to let people know it's ok to be different. You don't have to be who others want you to be, just be yourself. Don't live a lie to make others like you.
"Life is not a book. Every time you make a mistake in your life, you can't go back and rewritten or redo it to make it right because life doesn't work that way."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by B.B., Age 14 --- Minnesota
"You look at me and only see a person; I look at you and see the world."
Written in 2007 by Kim N., Age 14 --- Kentucky
I thought of it during a time I loved someone that didn't feel the same way.
"When you fall and your life cracks to pieces, let your determination pick you up, and let your hope piece you back together into a beautiful mosaic."
Copyright © 2007 Molly Parsons
No matter how shattered you are, a little determination and hope can stick you back together.
"Even when I walk through dark valleys and when people hurt and upset me, I will always know that you will always be there for me, standing there with open arms, because you love and care for me more than anyone else in this world!"
Author Unknown --- Submitted by Laura H., Age 16 --- Australia
I selected this one because I think it is relevant for everyone to know that even when everyone seems to dislike you, that God will always be there with his arms open to protect you from harm because he loves you!
"Telling someone that you love them is not true. Someone telling you that they love you is not true. Telling someone that you love yourself is the truth. Because you can't love anyone, until you love yourself."
Written in 2007 by Tiffinie W., Age 14 --- Illinois
I wanted to let struggling teens know that they are not alone in the world!
"The world is full of "maybes", "what ifs", and "if onlys". People will go behind your back, friends will lie and almost everyone will tell you why you aren't good enough, but you can dig deep inside your heart to find a million other reasons why you ARE. You will overcome the "What ifs", and think only of "I'm glad that", and "Who cares? Because life is all that I could imagine", and it is."
Written in 2007 by Mallorey C., Age 14 --- Massachusetts
"The root of all actions is the need for peace of mind or happiness."
Written in 2007 by Brook D., Age 17
"Take time today to enjoy the simple things in life, for tomorrow, they may become complicated."
Written in 2007 by Bobby M., Age 17 --- Canada
"In a world of fruit loops, be a cheerio."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by A.H.R., Age 13 --- Hawaii
I look around at school and I see all these girls pretending to be someone they are really not. So I decided to be myself and if someone has a problem with that, too bad for them!
"Sometimes you need to hide your feelings to lessen the pain. Sometimes you need to pretend that you don't love them.Sometimes you need to hide your feelings for that person so you will not get hurt. But wouldn't you realize that SOMETIMES can be FOREVER?"
Written in 2007 by Tintin R., Age 18 ---Philippines
This was based from my experience. So if you love someone, don't let time pass you by.
"There are no pit stops on the road of life; God made it so."
Written in 2007 by Yekaterina B., Age 14 --- Florida
I wrote this quote just kind of pondering about how life never seems to stop for anything or anybody ... that's what makes it precious.
"Love is blind; friendship closes its eyes."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by Aaradhana R., Age 16 --- Oklahoma
"Teen love, now there's a difficult subject. Are you the kid, at the back of the class, looking towards that girl near the front? Do you long for the words that dance out of her mouth? Do you dream about the future? Why waste time dreaming, when it's actions that take you places. Even if you don't have the desired outcome, at least you know. This helps you move on, which is a lot better then sitting in the back of a class for your whole life."
Written in 2007 by Sam B., Age 16 --- England
I wrote this because it was relative in my own life. As a teenager, I know how we feel about these things. I used to be the boy at the back of the class like so many others.
"So here's to you. For being strong enough to do this as long as you have, for being brave enough to stand against all who said it was wrong, for being able to stand alone when so many turned against you, for all the while still being there for friends in need, even though your own heart was broken. And here's to you, and the hope that you'll find someone who loves you as much as you love them."
Don Stacks --- Submitted by Jessica R., Age 18 --- Alabama
My friend told me this when we were talking about past relationships. He's always been a great friend to me and tries to cheer me up when I'm feeling down. When I read this, it made me feel like all the bad things I've been through weren't worthless and that I'll always have my friends.
"Every teenager has his or her own story. Every story is a little different. But we all express them the same; we laugh, we cry, we shout, we argue, and we're all healed. We all get butterflies, anxious, and nervous. I guess the difference between everybody is how we react to each problem that is thrown at us. We all have consciences and we know when we do wrong. Our problems as teenagers can either make us or break us. They can either push us down further or we could learn from every problem and they help us by building us up. We all get hurt no matter how much we try to act tough. Words hurt no matter what anybody says. Even though you know you shouldn't let words get to you, the reality is... they do. Everybody says don't worry about it, but everybody also knows it's hard because your feelings are hurt and you constantly think about it. But truly and honestly you shouldn't worry because everybody goes through their own storms, but just remember it can't rain forever."
Written in 2007 by C.M., Age 15 --- Georgia
I wrote this after a long week at school (drama). I am sure everyone can relate. Later, after a month had gone by, I reread it and realized I was right when I wrote it...that it can't rain forever... and it didn't because all the drama was over. God helped me realize too that we all go through our own storms for reasons. Sometimes we won't ever realize till later why we had to experience the storms, but later we are glad because without our own personal storms we can't learn and build up to become our own personal best.
"In life, once you've overcome you mindset and all obstacles within yourself, you can overcome the world and anything beyond that."
Written in 2007 by Raquel W., Age 14 --- Connecticut
Yourself should be your biggest fear because you sometimes find yourself not knowing who you are and all your emotions run wild. But once you can control your feelings and the way you deal with yourself, you can overcome anything because you can now put your mind to it.
"We all make mistakes. Do not regret, for we cannot change the past. Remember but never forget, for the past has made us who we have become. Do not dwell on the future, what is destined will be. In the end, none of this will matter. In the end, you too will see. People change, friendships end, dreams get crushed, but all in all, life goes on. This is what matters: family and true friends and being able to forgive everyone between."

"Learn this now. You are not untouchable. Life is short; so don't take anything for granted. Love with all your heart, and always remember that there may not be a tomorrow to say unspoken words."
Written in 2007 by Amber Nichole A., Age 17 --- Indiana
At my school we recently lost a classmate to unknown causes. He was only 17 years old. Within 8 years now my school has lost 6 students due to various reasons. It makes you realize how short life really is and to appreciate the small things.
"The power of individuality conquers all else...never forget to believe in yourself."
Written in 2007 by Molly P., Age 15 --- Colorado
As many have, I learned it's okay to be yourself the hard way.
"A heart is a fragile thing. That's why we protect them so vigorously, give them away so rarely and why it means so much when we do. Some hearts are more fragile than others. Purer somehow. Like crystal in a world of glass, even the way they shatter is beautiful."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by E.S., Age 16 --- Pennsylvania
"I'm not afraid to fall; it means I climbed too high. At least I tried."
Author Unknown --- Submitted by Jess J., Age 16 --- Indiana
I love this; I think it so motivational and so true. You have to try in life to succeed even if it means you fall time to time, at least you try.
"Live life till the jar is full and disregard all those who try to tilt the jar!"
Written in 2007 by Abigail C., Age 17 --- Florida
