This is a great little quote because I live by it. I train for baseball before practice and after practice, when there is nobody telling me to run or lift. I do it all on my own. It's called character.

I heard of my grandfather's remark to my dad when he came home one day and announced that he was dropping out of college. My dad, being a police officer on monthly rotating shifts and being married with a child (myself), was having a hard time with school and work and family. When he advised my grandfather of his intentions, he told his dad that by the time he graduates, he would be 35 years old. My grandfather, being a man of very few words, simply replied, "you're going to be 35 anyway." I use this saying every time I deal with a person who has yet to conquer the barriers of their dreams. A police officer myself, I am able to help those who are afraid of those hidden obstacles in their future.
