We once were little enough to pretend
But years go by, as they tend.
No longer do we get to play,
The games we did on a summer day.
Why is it ending? It isn't right.
We're growing up overnight.
No more forts or climbing trees,
Running bases or scraping knees.
The sound of laughter has faded away,
Stuck in the past where it will stay.
We've lost our innocence to a stronger force,
Thrown into the world, landing off course.
I know its tough, we're scared to go.
Our individuality, we must show.
We have to fight a little more,
For the rains will start, they'll start to pour.
Through it all, will grow a little stronger.
Will make it through, just wait a little longer.
For our friendship has lasted through the years.
Through battles, changes, laughter and tears.
After it all, will make it through and smile.
