I would like to take this time to tell you about my favorite person in the entire world. Her name is Mrs. Stansbury and she was my English teacher in my Sophomore year of High School. I moved to NJ from NY that year and didn't know a soul. I was pretty depressed about moving and didn't make an attempt to like the new environment I was in.

I was never very good in school either. But it was Mrs Stansbury who made me realize just how lucky I was to be where I was. She was one of the people who tried to learn about me and made me feel so important to the class. She was there whenever I needed advice or if I had a question. But she was also there to just talk and she always listened to what I had to say.

Because of her, I am going to be a High School English Teacher someday. I've learned everything I need to know from her and she is person that I will never ever forget. When I have to graduate High School on June 19, 2001, I know I'll be shedding a lot of tears. I'll miss my friends and my school but most of all, I'll miss Mrs Stansbury because she has been my role model for the past year and I hope I can always stay in touch with her and pass on her inspiration through myself.

I can use it or throw it away.

I will be a quality person today."

My niece Mackenzie is 6 years old. She is a kindergartner this year. On arriving home from school the firstday her mom asked how the first day was. Mackenzie excitedly replied, "Mommy, we had so much fun, theteacher invited me back tomorrow. Can I go?"

Hats off to the teacher that made her day especially memorable.

"Why do people think teachers are 'Monsters'? I really don't understand. Hasn't anyone noticed that if it wasn't for their first grade teacher they wouldn't know how to add or subtract, even read? Well I know this one teacher/coach that has touched my life in so many different places.

She has taught me more than what I have learned in a whole 2 years at the Junior High. She has taught me so much both on and off the court. She was there to help and pushed me to succeed. There was a few times when I felt like ending my life and she couldsee the pain in my eyes. She came up to me and would say, "You're not the kind of person that would give up! Why? You have so much to live for Bre! Look I'm going to help you but you have to promise me that you won't do anything stupid. I'm not giving up and there is no way I'm letting you give up."

You know what? My coach never gave up on me and I made it through that tough 8th grade year. She taught me to always keepgoing when you are going through hell and to never give up no matter what life throws at you.

My best advice for teens, like me, when they are going through hell is to never give up, never give up faith and most importantly believe in yourself. Even when it seems like nobody believes in you, don't stop believing in yourself because that is the most important thing you need in life. Reach out to people even if you think you shouldn't. Have a little bit of faith and take another step even when it is dark and you don't know if what you are about to set foot on is air or ground because people like my coach will be there to catch you when you fall."

"Steal away to yourself
Find inside you power to do it.
It is not somewhere else, it is hidden, latent within you.
The capacity is within you to do what you propose.
If you can see it, you can be it."
