I wrote this when I was transition from a founding director of a children's program to a new life. I think it was a time that I had to figure out what it was I had to give and all I could think of was my own experiences. Is that enough? I think it is.

"If you want to find a true friend, please be one."
Written in 2008 by Bai Maleiha Candao --- Philippines
True friendship is not an external search but an internal search of the soul, found in the soul and later on experienced outside of the soul. Meaning true friendship starts inside all of us before we can expect others to give it to us.

"Do not judge others by your own thoughts. They are living a different life than you are. What might be good for one person may not be good for another. What might be bad for one person might change another person's life. Allow people to make their own mistakes or their own decisions. We learn and grow with each decision and/or mistake that we make...but again, what might be a mistake for you would be a blessing for someone else."

I pride myself on not being judgmental. I like being able to tell my friends something and having them be happy for me. I don't always want to be questioned. I'm a big girl now. Every now and then - "congratulations" or "great" would be nice. It's always nice to be concerned but not to ruin someone else's moment of joy. First ask if they want your input or advice. I always do with my friends and family. Sometimes people just want you to listen!

Others contribute to what you become but they do not have the power to rule over you, so you have the power to redefine yourself even after they have forcefully defined you.

I thought of this quote today whilst talking to a friend on MSN. My friend was asking me how I was getting on with the novel I have been writing and I had to explain to him that I had for the moment stopped writing. He said to me that he was always starting creative things and then giving up on them and not finishing. He was pretty upset about it and saw it as a failing. I wanted to show him another way of looking at it.
